Jay + Jamie 08.28.10

Marching to the beat of their own drum.... no, literally!!!  Jay and Jamie are incredibly unique, fun people and I loved their wedding to pieces.  They decided to do exactly what they wanted to do, traditional or not, and the results were simply perfect.  Even the weather was perfect!  I mean... how can things go wrong with a wedding in the Heidelberg project, a blue wedding dress, and a marching band!?  Now, you can't say that their wedding was completely breaking tradition.... Jamie did have something old, new, borrowed and blue!

If you are unfamiliar with the Heidelberg Project, I highly suggest you check out their website and visit the actual place itself if you can.  Many of the 60 wedding guests were from out of town and were shuttled in to the ceremony from the Fort Shelby Hotel.  Janine, the executive director of the H.P., gave the guests a brief tour while we hid in the alley with the band.  Once the guests were seated, the band broke out into "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" for the processional.... it was such a happy song to walk in to!  Then they played the bridal march... which was seriously amazing!  The guests were completely surprised.  Even the Detroit News came out to cover the marching band performing.  (I will try to post the article when it comes out).  The couple also had a webcam set up so the family that couldn't make the trip could watch the ceremony.

Everyone headed on over to the Dossin Museum, which has many really cool nautical themed exhibits.  The reception was wonderfully casual and family oriented.  The guests were allowed to wander the museum and sample the great vegetarian food stations that were set up in the exhibits.  And of course... there was pie!  Yum.  After eating and visiting everyone headed back into the city to celebrate in the local bars and restaurants in Detroit.

Now, my pictures absolutely do not do this wedding justice... so you will just have to wait until Mod4 gets their pictures blogged (and I promise to let you know when that is).   Drumroll please................ (before I make another band joke):

Hiding behind the Polka Dot house pre-ceremony

The super fabulous happy bride and her parents joking around.  Look at that amazing blue vintage dress!  She looked stunning.  Her bouquet looked fantastic with her dress.

Wonderful ceremony on the polka dotted Heidelberg street under the shade trees.

Just another awesome view

The marching band was a complete surprise to the guests.  They sounded great and added an extra super fun vibe to the ceremony.

The bride and groom go to greet the band after becoming Mr. and Mrs.

View from the reception room at the Dossin... the view from Belle Isle is always perfect.

Casually elegant set up of the banquet room.

For favors, each guest received 3 marbles they could place in the jar of their choice which represented 3 special non-profits.  The couple made a donation to each based on the number of marbles in the jars.

The escort cards were real vintage Detroit themed post cards and the guests really enjoyed them

The card box matched the map theme with a Michigan map.  The guestbook was a beautiful book of the Heidelberg Project.

The guests enjoying the food and catching up with relatives from near and far.

Mmmmm pie... you know I always love a good pie buffet!

The bride and groom enjoying all the fun things to see and touch in the museum

They even hopped into the swan boat for some super adorable pictures... shhh don't tell the museum docent!

Jay and Jamie, thank you so much for choosing me to coordinate your big day.  I loved all of your choices and am so happy that it all came together as planned.  I hope you have a safe trip home!  Your wedding was stunning and unforgettable.  ♥Shelly

Karolina + Michal 7.24.10

Karolina rocked, Michal did too, I just spent a ton of time and really got to know Karolina! She was such a calm and collected bride throughout the entire planning process and even more so on the wedding day. She is a girl with a classic and elegant taste, and I loved watching her plans fall into place and watch her create beautiful things. I loved her family and felt right at home with them, I may or may not show up unannounced for a home cooked Polish meal!

Amazing Sweet Table created by their family friend
Karolina's BEAUTIFUL table numbersVodka infused Watermelon Balls
Karolina and Michal are Polish and incorporated their culture into many different elements of the wedding...the entire ceremony was in Polish and most of their guest's were speaking Polish, so our Intern Chelsea and I had to be more observant of actions to understand certain aspects of the wedding.
Karolina and Michal just wanted everyone to have fun and for everyone to enjoy their food, drinks and the Polish Band-which everyone did! Thank you for letting me be a part of this day! You two are so perfect together and so lucky to be surrounded by such amazing friends and family. Congratulations! xxoo

Dana + Gabe 7.17.10

Well...this blog post has only taken me a month to post, BUT this wedding is well worth the wait. Dana and Gabe are such an amazing couple and they are surrounded by AMAZING family and friends. Their 400 person wedding was PURE ELEGANCE, it was full of fun, laughter and love. Their ceremony took my breath away, and walking into the Reception at The Royal Park Hotel Shelly and I both were in awe of the beauty. I felt so honored to be the coordinator for this event, I truly felt a part of their family and wanted everything to be just the way they envisioned it! The day was FLAWLESS...it was UNBELIEVABLE..so I will stop typing about it and let the pictures tell their story!
