Kristen + Rory 6.11.11

My husband and I went to a wedding at the ever so wonderful Addison Oaks last weekend...it was a pleasure being a guest at one of our favorite venues..I think Dan and Sam were super surprised to see me as a guest for once! The wedding was for our friend's Kristen and Rory and we had an amazing time. The wedding was beautiful. Kristen and Rory wanted a fun wedding and nothing but a celebration to celebrate the love they have for each other. The ceremony was full of laughter and tears and it was nothing short of special and I assume exactly what they envisioned this event to be.

The talented Lee and Stephanie Higginbottom from Remember films sent me the preview to check out! It was so nice meeting Stephanie at the wedding and I can't wait to work with them, hopefully in the near future!

Thoughts from a recent bride....

My friend from Chicago was recently married (see previous post).  After the wedding, this self-described budget bride wrote me a little note and said:

"Before I had a wedding of my own, I'll be honest with you, I thought the idea of having a wedding coordinator was a little ridiculous. Now that I have had a wedding, I really wish I would have had a coordinator on the day of my wedding. In the grand scheme of things, I think it is totally worth it to pay someone to take care of all the little things that first-time brides fail to anticipate."

Now, Jill and I aren't saying that everyone needs a day of coordinator.  Couples have been getting married for years with just the assistance of their family and friends.  But it doesn't hurt to have a helping hand around to do all those things that you didn't think of, don't want to do yourself, or don't want your family/friends to do because they are busy being guests at your wedding!

You'll be just as married, but we are willing to bet you will be less stressed and enjoy yourself so much more with Simplicity behind the scenes.

Gorgeous wedding... on a budget!

My very dear friends Jeff and Elizabeth got married this weekend in Chicago.  They really wanted to do a fun yet elegant wedding on a budget.  With their permission, I am posting a few of my own pictures as well as the basic budget for some of the items they purchased.  This just proves that you can splurge in the areas you want to, save in other areas, and create the perfect wedding!

Other than it being a little chilly and overcast for a June wedding, everything was fantastic.  The couple really infused their personality into the celebration and I think all the guests really appreciated that.  We felt like one big happy family of 80.

I promise to post some professional pictures of this wedding when I can... I was too busy having fun to take many pictures myself!  Thank you to Jeff and Elizabeth for inviting us, we had a blast!!!  ♥Shelly

Heather + Matt 06.04.11

Heather and Matt live in SoCal, so this was another couple that I worked with over the phone/email until just days before their wedding.  I met them at Heather's parents house and knew instantly this was going to be a fun wedding!  The house smelled of the wonderful banana bread they had baked for their out of town guest hotel bags and the whole family was there getting ready for the big day.

The wedding colors were in the "peacock" range which, dear readers, you will remember is my favorite.  Everything was gooooorgeous.  The Parsonage did an incredible job on the flowers, linens, and other decor.  Aunt Sue and Heather worked on all the paper products and I dare say that these are my favorite table numbers of all time.  The Pine Knob Carriage House provided delicious food and a beautiful area for an outdoor ceremony, despite the fact we were all melting from the heat!

Now enjoy a few pictures from the wedding day.  To see more, visit us on Facebook.

There were several types of centerpieces using peonies, hydrangea and orchids.

Love love love these table numbers with the little purple crystals.

Cake, um... yum?

High centerpieces.

Sweetheart table.

Lanterns hanging outside in the ceremony pavilion.

Lovely setting for a ceremony.

DIY Programs.

Really cool signature mat... guests put their inked fingerprints on the tree for leaves and then signed it.  So cute (from Etsy).

More amazing flowers.

Simply awesome escort cards.

Mantel with bridesmaid bouquets and candles.

A wonderful time was had by all as RJ the DJ keep the floor packed all night.  I cannot wait to see the pro photos from Morgan, a professional photographer friend of the family.... I promise to post a few once I see them.

Thank you Heather and Matt for allowing me to be there on your wedding day.  You are an adorable couple with a fantastic family.  I wish you a lifetime of love and happiness!!!  ♥Shelly
