Bennett's Rockin' Bar Mitzvah! 04.09.11

Bennett is awesome.  His mom is awesome.  His family is awesome.  And... his party was awesome!  Jill, Bennett's mom, contacted me a few months back after Renee from the Detroit Historical Society gave her my name.  I am so glad she did!  What a unique and fun event.  The guests were so excited about the choice of venue, saying that they had either never been to the museum or hadn't been since they were kids.  So start with a great venue, add some fun people, some ridiculously delicious food, some beautiful decor.... and add 1 rock star named Bennett and you have the perfect party!

After some appetizers and drinks, everyone headed into the auditorium where Bennett performed "Don't Stop Believing" and "Hey Soul Sister".  WOW!!!  Check out the rock star:

There were too many pictures to put on this post, so make sure you check out the rest on our Facebook page.  Liz from Trinity also took some professional pictures... I promise to have those up as soon as I see them.

The party had a "Streets of Detroit" theme with all the tables having street signs in the centerpieces.  Plus Bennett had a giant street sign for himself!

The strolling food stations were: Mexican Town, Greek Town, and Eastern Market Marvels.  Plus Classic Motor City Sweets.  If I typed out the menu, you might start drooling, and drool and your keyboard don't really mix....Huge compliments to Fernando from Forte as well as his entire crew

During a meeting with Liz from the Parsonage and Jill, I said something about making menu cards that look like Mapquest directions to go with the whole street theme.  Liz and I got all excited about it and Jill followed thru!  I was soooo excited to see these.  She did an AMAZING job on them!  What a great touch.
Adorable escort cards... little street lights with street signs!
 Beautiful linens and flowers.

Escort card table and really cool photo mosaic signature mat.

During the first hour, there was a strolling saxophone player and a street magician!  Everyone loved it and they went along splendidly with the theme.
Gorgeous salmon crostini
Made to order quesadillas!
Lamb chop lollipops
My personal favorite, apple cobbler in little tiny mugs

Jill, thank you so much for letting me be a part of your family's big day!  I enjoyed meeting all of you and seeing all the details you so carefully planned come to life.  Everyone was so impressed with your creativity.  I can't wait to see what you do with Sophie's bat mizvah in a few years!!  Mazal tov Bennett!!!!
