Alyssa + Jared

This wedding was the definition of fun. If I could do my wedding all over again, I think I would just copy this one! Alyssa and Jared are really laid back and super sweet. They picked an amazing venue for the ceremony and reception, The Henry Ford Museum. This is arguably one of the most unique venues in Metro Detroit. The banquet staff was an absolute pleasure to work with and I hope to do so again soon. Unfortunately due to lovely Michigan rain the day before, the outdoor ceremony was moved indoors to the theatre.... which is beautiful anyway so I suppose it isn't really a downgrade. I cannot wait to see the pro pictures from Emily Dowd and the video from Shelby & Aaron from FCP!! Tom the DJ was super fun and Crystal from Shutterbooth is just the cutest.

The guests were blown away with this wedding, as was evident by the plethora of pictures flooding my facebook the next day! I am thrilled with the results and even more thrilled for the adorable couple. I wish you two nothing but the best, Mr. & Mrs. B! Here is to your happily ever after!!!

Now enjoy some of my pictures from the evening:

This setup and venue deserved its own 360 shot (sorry it is shaky... Forever Cherished is an awesome videographer.... I am not)

Tables with floating candles & orchids and the cutest table numbers made by Alyssa (pictures of their dogs).

Cake in front of the dance floor.... yes the dance floor is under the plane!

I adore these escort cards.... Jelly Belly beans in glass bottles sealed with wax and stamped with their initial on top.

Cool sand ceremony... an hourglass!

What can be better than Paws showing up to your reception!? This was a total surprise guest appearance made possible by the parents of the bride.

Late night snack... nacho bar!

Faygo float station, can you say yummmm?

At the 'drive in' movie theatre they had a slideshow of pictures for the guests to enjoy

Thanks for letting me be a part of your big day!!! --Shelly (& Paws)

10.03.09 Stacey + Marc

I love FALL weddings! Shelly and I had the pleasure of working with Marc and Stacey for the past few months. Marc and Stacey are living in Chicago, so we met with them when Stacey was in town and we worked mostly through emails. The second I met these two a few months back, I knew I was going to love working for them, they are kind, funny, caring, intelligent little love birds. I'm going to miss Stacey's emails, but hopefully I have gained a new friend.
On to the wedding...it ROCKED! It was beautiful, fun, detailed, the vendors were awesome (we made new friends) , food at the Royalty House was amazing, everything was perfect. The families were so great and the bridal party was seriously the best group of people. This is my shout out to the Maid of Honor who seriously had Shelly and I in tears over her speech, it was the perfect mix of funny and sentimental, it was perfect. Marc and Stacey gave a little toast/speech and again...tears from Shelly and I. Marc and Stacey~ THANK YOU for letting us be a part of your wedding day, the love and respect your family and friends have for you is so apparent as is the love and respect you have for one another. Now here's a sneak peek to the photos we took of your big day! Stay tuned for the pro pics taken by the talented Amy Boeve, because I'm sure those will be unbelievable!
I had to include this little door in the church. It was in the Bride's dressing area, and Stacey was able to peek out as guest's arrived and even as the ceremony processional started, it was really cute!

LOVED the Place Card table!!

Beautiful Cake as always from Tamara!

Loved the fall decor and the favors were lanterns
that made the table even more beautiful!

Beautiful captains table!!

2 YEARS!!!

Two years ago today I married my best friend. Our wedding was our absolute dream wedding! Our ceremony was perfect in our eyes, there was laughter and tears as we were surrounded by our friends and family and remembered those who couldn't be there with us. Tears from Chris and I as we remembered my dad with an empty chair with a beautiful red rose in his place and laughter as the reverend told the story of how we first met. I felt like the luckiest girl walking down the isle with my mom by my side and my best friend waiting for me at the alter and our closest friends standing up with us.

Our reception at Comerica Park was a total blast. The room was filled with love, fun and of course more laughter. Chris and I are so lucky to have such amazing people in our lives.

So here is my chance to gush about the man I married two years ago...I am so thankful for this man making me a better person, making me want to be the best and dream for the best, who makes me believe in myself, who supports me, who loves me, who makes me pee my pants laughing daily, who loves my friends and family, who makes me a we, who makes me whole. Chris, everything is just better when you're around- here's to a hundred and one more years of love, laughter and friendship (and maybe a few babies)!

Before and After

I always seem to post the after pictures of a venue completely finished, I never post the before pictures! So... as Shelly and I are constantly trying to be better and be different and learn with each event, I have decided to start taking a before... and after picture for many reasons.

~The before shows exactly this, the before! A before shot is what the bride and groom see when booking their venue
~An after shot is all of their hard work and visions coming to life
~ The before shot shows what Shelly and I walk into at each event usually at least 2 hours before the start time
~ The after shot shows us making the couples vision a reality
~The before sort of makes you ask who is going to make it all a reality?
~The after shows what peeps like us DOCs do :) with lots of love, sweat and sometimes getting a little dirty
So here we go...the first every Simplicity Before Shot...
To this...

And this..
